Yes these people are spurious. They called me while I was at work claiming I owe my old school a large sum of money, meanwhile that debt has already been covered by my student aid over 6 years ago. When I tried to explain this, this person did not state the company he was representing, but seemed to know everything about me except one thing: my bank and credit card information. He kept insisting I had to pay an exorbitant amount. This rude unprofessional speaking in a threatening, condescending tone then proceeded to ask me to give out my information to him over the phone. With all the hacking and cyber fraud going on, this was not going to happen. When they realized they weren't going to scam me, they hung up in my face.
Then I reverse searched the number of the caller to see what company they represent, and the call traces back to Ohio. How did my information end up in a scammers hands in Ohio, when I went to school in NY? Corrupt, hacking, scamming, predatory ponzi scheme telemarketing is what this.
