I received texts and a call, from this number. The guy wrote in poor English. He sounded like an African. The initial contact sounded legitimate, regarding an administrative assistant position, with "Cardwell Lumber." I had applied for several positions in that field thus his inquiry was not suspect. He provided a link, in order, to complete their application. Thereafter, via text, he explained that my duties would involve receiving payments then distributing said payments to various departments. Then the scam kicked in with "who do you bank with? "I will send you a check. You'll deposit the check into your bank account. You will use those funds to purchase the equipment needed to perform your duties." My biggest regret is filling out my SS# on that darn application.
I was advised by Social Security to contact the FTC and credit report folks. In the end, I put a freeze on my credit report with Transunion. I also called the local police fraud department, here in Colorado. I am waiting for a response.
This experience is really disconcerting and trifling. The persistence, time, and energy that is used for scamming, should be invested in getting a darn job or matriculation towards a degree or starting up a company. I guess these suggestions would feel too much like right.
Oh, my scammer uses the name Gregory Nairne. His criminal email address is gregorynairne4@gmail.com
