I was called yesterday by a group claiming $1500.00 worth of electronics had been charged to my credit card. This became quite complicated and the last person I spoke with told me not to tell anyone, even family, He claimed to be a security officer with Social Security and ultimately told me that my credit cards were being held, my bank account was being frozen and my SSA check would be withheld until this was resolved. Today I got a call from the number I hoped your business could identify. It stopped ringing before I could decide whether to answer. I decided in the end that it was probably a different scammer because oddly the numbers are mixture of my current phone number and the phone number of the home I lived in from my childhood through a large part of my early adulthood.
Anyway, I've decided to go with the advice of a worker in the fraud department of my bank's headquarters and take this as a failed attempt by a scammer.
