Received a call from this number this morning. Caller id read Better Home Pro. Caller hung up after a few seconds. I dialed back and got a recorded message say "You have just completed a test call for Pac-West Telecom" and the spewed out some numbers like in reference numbers.I'm not sure but the call might have been intended to see if PWT could get an active number. Pac-West Telecom, Inc is located at 4210 Coronado Ave, Stockton, CA 95204 (877- 626-4325). I tried calling to see what was up this "test call" thing but only got a recording asking me to leave a message and a number. I'll call back later and see what happens. The 731-554-0425 number is out of Humbolt, TN and the carrier is Aeneas Communications located in nearby Jackson, TN. You can find both Pac-West Telecom and Aeneas Communciations websites by googling their names. Regardless of all this, I have good reason to believe that whatever is involved here it is a scam. Someone is probably going to call me later today or tomorrow with some kind of offer that will violated the Do Not Call law. My name is on both state and federal registries. File complaints with FCC, FTC, and the state attorney general office if these folks call you and you're on the DNC registry. My experience is that it wouldn't do one bit of good in the short run but maybe these complaints can help change the law and put more teeth in it. It hasn't done one bit of good so far in cutting down on illegitimate businesses engaged in telemarketing. Legitimate businesses have pretty much stop robo calls to residential phones so if you get one you can pretty much be certain it's a scam. Live calls from legitimate business and charities have pretty much stopped also. The exception is if you have a business relationship with the caller. .
